Precision casting in aluminum alloys

Precision casting uses the wax meltdown method. An aluminum mould is used to made a wax model, which is then dipped in ceramic slurry several times until a layer approx. 10 mm thick has formed. The ceramic is kiln-fired, which also melts away the wax. The metal is poured into the ceramic mould, which disintegrates after the casting process. Stainless steel can also be used for casting in this process.

Precision casting – The benefits of using this method:

  • Suitable for batch runs of up to approx. 500 pieces.
  • Good for complex, thin-walled items.
  • Very fine tolerances and a smooth surface.
  • Moderate mould costs.
  • This method is often an alternative to lathing/milling workpieces. Fine detailing is possible, as well as areas with limited draught. Compared to other casting methods, the unit cost is high, but production in Turkey keeps our prices competitive.
