Sand Casting in aluminum alloys and copper alloys

A wooden or plastic model of the workpiece is used to create an impression in sand moulds. Sand cores can be inserted to produce holes in the workpiece. The metal is poured in by hand. The mould and any cores disintegrate due to the process.

Sand Casting – The benefits of using this method:

  • Console 4.6 kg aluminium alloy 4251.
  • Best suited for batch runs from 10–300 pieces.
  • Low model costs.
  • Suitable for large or small workpieces.
  • Also good for prototypes and batch samples.
  • DISAMATIC system, KFA mould machines and other mould machines with their modern sand units ensure quality and competitiveness. Subsequent heat treatment (Al alloy 4253) can give the workpieces greater strength.
